Road transfers route
Kampala / Entebbe → Bwindi Impenetrable NP (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo)
The 9–10 h overland pilgrimage — broken sensibly at the Equator, Mbarara or Lake Mburo.
- Tour operators (4×4 with driver-guide), first-class bus to Kabale/Kisoro
- 9–10 h driving time
- ≈ US$15 (bus) · US$250+ (private 4×4/day)
Tarmac nearly all the way, but distance and traffic make it a full day: Kampala–Masaka–Mbarara–Kabale–Kisoro for the southern sectors, or branch at Ntungamo for Ruhija/Buhoma. Most trekkers break the journey with a night at Lake Mburo NP or Mbarara and arrive the day before their permit. Private 4×4 with driver-guide is the standard arrangement (US$150–250/day incl. fuel); the postbus and relief buses to Kisoro are the shoestring alternative.

Booking information
Arrange through tour operators or your lodge; do not attempt the final mountain sectors at night.
Good to know
Roadside stops are clean-ish and adequate; carry small UGX notes for fruit stands at the Equator. Rain can slow the last hour badly.
Times and fares are curated guidelines, not a live timetable.
Always confirm before you travel.
